Relationships and Health Education (RHE) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) 

From September 2020, it became a statutory requirement that all schools in England teach Relationship and Health Education as a fundamental part of the curriculum.

As part of implementing the RHE/RSE curriculum, schools must consult with stakeholders to ensure there is a general consensus on our approaches to policy and the curriculum content. Our parent consultation took place from Tuesday 1st December 2019 and closed on Tuesday 15th December 2019. 

All of our Relationship and Health Education curriculum is delivered from a recognised scheme of learning called ‘Jigsaw’ and the units of work are always taught during the summer term under the title ‘Changing Me’. As an academy, we studied the lesson materials and chose what content we deemed appropriate for the primary age range. 

In order for you to explore what content will be delivered, and to decide if you wish to opt your child out of the two lessons that we have identified, you have access to the unit overviews and specific lesson content to Year 4 Lesson 2 and Year 6 Lesson 6. Included in the Authorisation Packs that come home at the start of the academic year, you will have the opportunity to state whether you wish to opt out of these two lessons only.
