SEND and Inclusion

SENDCo & Inclusion Lead- Miss Chelsea Stone

Greenways Primary is dedicated to being an inclusive school where every child is valued and supported. We believe that all children, regardless of their specific needs, have the right to a safe and nurturing learning environment. Our inclusive approach ensures that all students can achieve their full potential and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Inclusive Practices

  1. Collaboration with Professionals: We work closely with the local authority and various external professionals, such as educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists. This collaboration ensures that our support strategies are comprehensive and tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.
  2. Broad Areas of Need: We address the four broad areas of need as defined by the SEND Code of Practice:
    • Communication and Interaction: Supporting children with speech, language, and communication difficulties.
    • Cognition and Learning: Providing tailored interventions for children with learning difficulties and specific learning disabilities.
    • Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Difficulties: Offering a range of strategies and support for children experiencing emotional and behavioural challenges.
    • Sensory and Physical Needs: Ensuring accessibility and support for children with physical disabilities and sensory impairments.
  3. Parental Involvement: Our SENDCo and Inclusion Lead is always available to discuss your child’s needs. We value the partnership between home and school and strive to keep parents informed and involved in their child’s education.
  4. Parent Information Coffee Mornings: We offer regular coffee mornings for parents who would like to learn more about their child’s specific needs and the support provided in school. These coffee mornings provide an opportunity to meet the SENDCo, understand our inclusive practices, and gain insights into how we support each child’s development.
  5. Student-Centred Approach: We believe in listening to our students and involving them in decisions about their education. By understanding their perspectives, we can create a more supportive and effective learning environment.
  6. Training and Development: Our staff undergo regular training to stay updated on best practices in inclusive education. This ensures that they are well-equipped to support the diverse needs of our students.
